Self Study 4 and Tutorial 3

This week in the tutorial we had to implement AI using navigation. The tasks were to add in a moving object, and implement our walking animation from the previous tutorial onto the AI agents.

Below shows the behaviour of the AI when faced with a swinging pendulum:

Below shows the animations with the enemy AI:

In the self study, we were tasked with baking lighting in Unity. We followed the tutorial by Brackeys about baked lighting with the progressive lighting model: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnG2gOKV9dw

Here is my final result:

Just out of interest, because Unity took forever to bake lighting, I tried the same scene setup in Unreal Engine 4. It took 14 seconds to bake, as opposed to Unity's almost 2 minutes to fully complete, here is what it looks like in Unreal:

Whilst there isn't as many harsh shadows, I believe with further playing around I could replicate it. Also, by default, UE4 doesn't require a post process to make the emissive materials 'bloom', its just done by default.

Next task was to make our previouisly made scene use some baked lighting.

Here is some before and after shots:

I used the color grading to get the brighter, more seepia tone, by changing the temperatue, tint and saturation. I also bumped up the ambient occulsion, and added a vignette.
